Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) Prelims Exam consists of two papers—General Studies (GS) and CSAT. Check the exam pattern, subjects, marks, and syllabus.

Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) Prelims Exam is the first stage of the UPPSC PCS (Provincial Civil Services) Examination. It is an objective-type screening test that shortlists candidates for the Mains exam.

UPPSC Prelims Exam Pattern:

  • Exam Mode: Offline (OMR-based)
  • Question Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • Total Papers: 2
  • Total Marks: 400
  • Negative Marking: Yes (0.33 marks deducted for each wrong answer)
  • Qualifying Nature: Paper 2 (CSAT) is qualifying with 33% marks required.

  • General Studies Paper (GS) determines merit for Mains qualification.

Candidates who qualify for Prelims (based on Paper 1 merit) are eligible to appear for the UPPSC Mains Exam.
